What makes water
One inquiry unit our class explored was 'Sharing the Planet'. A scenario was set that the children in Room 1 had to discover a resource that was depleting itself. This resource happened to be water. Brady and Thomas explored the line of inquiry of 'Water is a finite resource', and created this show to demonstrate their knowledge.

Suter Art Gallery
On the 30th of June our class went to the Suter Art Gallery to see an exhibition.
The exhibition was about some creatures in the world that people hate.
We talked about some of them and why people hate them.
At the exhibition I felt amazed.
After we talked about some of the creatures that people hate we got some pictures and went into the theatre and made birds out of clay.
Then after we had finished making the birds we left them there to be put in an oven so they could harden.

Totara Trading
Sometimes, on a Friday at Central School, the Totora Syndicate has a trading day called Totora trading, where you have fake 'Totora' dollars (a bit like funny money). You can buy and sell toys, food and raffle tickets for raffles. People can earn Totora dollars by: following instructions, doing work when you're supposed to, etc, etc. Well, you get the idea of what you do. Personally I think Totora Trading is fun because you can bring in toys, sell them and then buy a new toy. Totora Trading is on a Friday from 12:00 to 12:30 (I think!) ,but sometimes it's cancelled or Top 20 is on. Totora Trading rocks!

AsTTle Writing - Elliot
At the start of the term we began the topic 'It's Not an Even Playing Field'
In this we were going to learn about Human Rights in countries that we were going to choose from a list.
My group, (Elliot, Julia, Max) choose Somalia in Africa.
We started researching Somalia. We found some very good information about the war with Ethiopia, the Somaliland and Puntland separation from the main country of Somalia, and a very good timeline about the main events in Somalia on the Internet.
After the research we wrote down or printed out the info we had found, highlighting key words and looking up words that we did not understand.
Soon after this we will be turning the info we have into a slide show or movie-maker file on Human Rights in Somalia.
Also, I was shocked with situation of Human Rights in Somalia and in many other places like Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, China, Japan, Mongolia, Burma, Nepal, Pakistan,
Northern Russia and many more places that have a very poor standard of human rights.
So I think that we should all do something to help the situation in the world today because no matter if it's in the playground or in the trenches of WW1,
You can still do something to help and support.

Charlottes Web

Hi, I'm Charlotte. I love to spin webs and I am a calm, patient and caring spider.
When I make a promos I keep it.
I have a black and brown soft, silky coat. My many eyes are black and shiny, so I
can see everywere.
Humans think spiders are ugly little creepy crawlies (and some animals do too)
But not Wilbur, he is a kind and polite pig.
How I came to meet Wilbur was because he could not sleep so I told him that we could converse (chat) in the morning. So in the morning we chatted. Wilbur had never seen a spider - He said I looked beuatiful. I wasn't sure if he was just being nice or that he was polite.
From that day on Wilbur and I became the closest of friends, and I made a promise to help Wilbur to see his first spring.
If you want to know what happened - read the book!! It's fantastic!!!

Hi my name Charlotte A. Cavatica - whats your name?
I make beautiful webs to keep the insects out of the barn, but I don't just do it to keep the bugs out of the barn, I drink their blood. I don't do all this work at day - I do my job at night when it's quiet and dark that means I am nocturnal.
Can you guess what I am?
My favourite saying is "I promise" which means I give heaps of promises and I never ever, ever
EVER break them. I think I am trustworthy and brave but I never get to show it. One day a cute little runt named Wilbur came along and wanted to see the snow but the farmer wanted to cook him in the smoke house. I promised that he would see the snow. So thats when I went to work I made words in my web like:Terrific, some pig, humble and radiant. That's when everyone knew I was trustworthy and brave but Templeton is just as trust worthy and brave as I am.
I have a small round body, eight long skinny legs and most inportantly I am female.
Anyway see ya later that's all for now.
Oh and if you still havn't guessed what I am keep guessing cause I'm not going to tell you!!!
HA! HA!

They thought they could outrun me, he he he!!! Anyway I am brown, have a long snout ( good for finding food!), pink ears and beady eyes. I absolutely love night because I can sleep... um... laze around and um... ya that's it oh but I can eat as well! Oh here we go again!!! Sorry I've gotta go. Wilbur is trying to make a web and he is jumping up and down and my home is falling down!!! Why is he laughing??? Oh before I go. The Rat is handsome!!! Bye!p.s In the background "WILBUR!!!!!!!!!"

I'm the rat but not just any rat I am Templeton the rat. If you want to know what I look like read on.I have dark grey coated hair with a pointy nose, and a very long tail that is dark pink. Some people would say I walk like jelly and look like it too - sometimes I would agree!!
I am not so nice to those animals and definitely that runt Wilbur. I don't really like doing stuff for other people but myself but when it comes to food I'm your guy.
I think I'm very beautiful and cool.
I say these words lots - "the rat is handsome, the yokes on me, SLOOPS!!!!!!, the rat is happy and the rat."
I like to laze in my hole, dive into Wilbur's sloops, finding words for Charlotte so she can save Wilbur from that old smoke house and come out of that old hole of mine and talk to those barn yard animals.

I love slop! I only care about ME and I'm arrogant. I have got black hair a light body and I'm greedy. I'm a male that is smart, lazy and brave. I'm silly, sneaky and stubborn. I have a medium voice and I love saying "the rat is handsome." Last but not least I smell like slop.

Hi my name is Wilbur, I am a pink, jumpy, playful, piglet runt. I live in a big red barn with my friends.
I was rescued by Fern, a nice caring loveble young girl who always visits me when she can and reads me stories. My favourite sayings are "Great name" because everyone likes to be complemented and "anyone want to play" because I love to play by myself, but it's even more fun playing with somebody else.
One of my best friends is Charlotte, she's a spider and guess what? She can make amazing things called webs.
I want to grow up to see the snow but I probably wont because there is a little brick house across the barn called "The Smoke House." I thought humans loved pigs but it turns out humans love pork!
Charlotte made a promise that I wouldn't get killed but how could she stop them she's so small and humans are so huge!
So if you want to find out more about what happens to me and my friends you can buy the movie Charlottes Web or even rent it. Bye for now!!!

My hobbies are jumping in mud and being a little famous.
I like saying "hello"," goodnight"," great name", "don't go" and "wanna be friends?"
So I've got to go because it's raining and you know what you get with rain MUD!!!!!!!

My name is Templeton, and I enjoy eating. I also enjoy making smart remarks about Wilbur the pig

. He's new to the barn, and he likes to play in mud(I think he likes the squelching noise and the feel of it). I reakon it's a waste of time, but pig=slop and I like slop, so it's okay despite his annoying questions. I often take Gussie the gooses' rotten eggs , but they roll everywhere and crack, which makes the whole barn stink!!! Wilbur and Charlotte ask for jobs and in return I get slop. Usually the jobs are finding exciting words.
Templeton is a arrogant, fat rat who likes slop.

so he can be rich. He tries to be sweet, and he can try to be fair.
He also is mean to Wilbur the pig.
And he is the best rat in the world.
