Milo Mondays

Every Monday in Room1 we have Milo Mondays.
As we drink our milo we talk about what sport we did in the weekend, and also discuss our social skills programme.
We have a total of 22 children playing sport in the weekend. WOW!! Some children play 2 types of sport. These sport codes include soccer, rugby, hockey, netball, squash and Basket ball.
These are our comments from this weekend:
Some children had watched the All Blacks on T.V. (plus Harry Potter).
Sam had a Basket Ball rep game in Blenheim - and won the tournament .
Brady's team vs Jacob's in hockey,Jacob's won 5-0 .
Felix team vs Callums in soccer,Callum won 5-4 .
Felix and Josh played in a squash tournament and Shaye did try outs for the Year 6 Netball team.
Thomas's reflection on his game "We didn't pass enough".
Great going Room 1.

Term 3.

Exciting events for this term include - a ski trip to Rainbow,
a Suter Art gallery trip, the winter tournament - date 25th August,
more cross country running for the finalists, a fantastic trip to Waimarama Bird Sanctuary - Spetemeber 17th?, and tree planting.
Our in class learning for the term includes:
Literacy - Recounts through fairy tales. We will be reading plenty of fairytales with a twist, and use Blooms to communicate our understanding of the fairytale. Following this the class will enjoy a poetry unit, where the students will explore lots of different types of poetry. The reading focus will be on classic poems like The Highway man, Jabberwocky, The owl and the pussy cat. etc.
Maths - fun and games with geometry, multiplication and division and also fractions!! Look out for these.
Our intergrated unit this term starts off with 'It is not an even playing field' - looking at human rights and how important this document is.
We will also be designing masks for the mask parade, creating speeches for the Nelson Speech Competition, and starting the build up for Camp. So all and all yet another action packed term.
I have not included some of our weekly routines, as these will be appearing on the main page. Enjoy!
